Discover the nature reserve „Unteres Recknitztal“ off the main tourist trails, around 10 km southeast of Ribnitz-Damgarten. The marsh of the river valley presents s a unique natural landscape along the lower course of the river Recknitz. A large biodiversity populates the lifeline of the protected area. The river flows mostly in its natural course. Mixed deciduous forests and vast grassland areas flank it.

The varied landscape offers habitat and nesting sites for more than 100 bird species, including for example the rare lesser spotted eagle. If you climb up the tower of the church of Pantlitz, you get a beautiful view on the Recknitz valley.

In Tribohm, the nature trail “Tribohmer Bachtal” invites you to discover nature and learn more about the region’s cultural and natural heritage. 17 information boards present information about the cultural heritage, the flora and fauna of the area and the development of the nature reserve. The trail following the stream is about 6 km long, from Tribohm to Gruel. If you want to explore the beautiful nature reserve from the water side, you can rent a canoe and start your journey easily from Damgarten, Marlow or Bad Sülze.
